Sometimes you think things are never going to change and then, all of a sudden, a ray of hope peeks through the dark clouds. I think we saw that in a few places last week. Change is coming, for good.
In my last post, I explored why God seems to allow evil to persist in order to expose itself and be eradicated. Is that day coming? Can you feel it? Are you ready for it?
More importantly, will you play your role? We know which leaders need to go. We know now that it matters, have learned that lesson the hard way, that they can make our country, our society, sink or swim. What are we going to do about it?
Maybe a good rule of thumb this election season is this:
Does this candidate want to make the world in their own image or in God’s?
I’m not going to tell you who to vote for because, well, that’s unAmerican. I’m going to tell you what I’ve come to understand: The fate of our country, our world, by extension, hangs dangerously in the balance.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus seems to be asleep in the boat as the winds threaten to sink it. His disciples cry out, “Save us! Save us, Lord!” Have you been crying this out, lately? For the last four years, maybe?
Look what happens. Our God was sleeping to reflect the sleeping faith of his followers. They really didn’t know who they were dealing with. He stood and immediately calmed the sea. Immediately. Snap of the fingers. He made it happen.
“Why were you afraid? Where is your faith?” he asked. Don’t you know who’s in control? He didn’t come for His own sake, but for ours. Not to show off, to topple kingdoms himself, but to do the harder work, to open our eyes to a greater reality, to raise mankind to its true dignity and say, go and build my Kingdom, here and now.
Maybe you’ve given up hope that this is possible. Hope lives on. But, we have to embody it in the world, make the saving change by making ourselves more like the One who saves us.
“What sort of man is this,
whom even the winds and the sea obey?”
What sort of leader do you want? Vote accordingly. Put the leaders in place whom you know, in your heart of hearts, can reflect the True Leader of us all and, with His help, change the course of our world for good.
Changes are happening, realities opening up that you probably didn’t expect in the latest chapter of my serial novel, Blood of Relics, available now for paid subscribers (and to be released for all in its entirety by year-end, I hope.) Enjoy!
And, if you haven’t yet, check out my latest book, available on Kindle or hardback and announced in this post:
Thanks for reading and for your patience! Change takes time, and it takes patience, faith, and love. Thank you for echoing these virtues in our world, for making His Kingdom come.
